The 4.24D is a flexible four input/eight output digital signal processor capable of precise control of a broad range of audio functions. Because it has no user controls, it is ideal for applications where real-time changes are unlikely or when tamper-proof security is required.Fast set-ups and a strong visualization of the Input/Output routing, EQ, and Filter curves, an RS-232 port is achieved using Ashly's control software (Protea Software Suite) and a PC. Full control is also available via MIDI input and output jacks.
The Protea 4.24D utilizes state of the art DSP technologies, beginning with 24 bit, 48kHz delta-sigma A/D converters with 128x oversampling. Digital processing includes Gain, Polarity Invert, Parametric EQ, Shelving Filters, Time Delay, Crossover Functions, Compression, Limiting, and Signal Routing, all taking place in twin 120MHz high performance DSP processors. D/A conversion uses 24 bit delta-sigma converters with 128x oversampling. All inputs and outputs are precision balanced and RF protected using Euroblock connectors. Each input allows you to control gain and six filters (each of them your choice of parametric, low or high shelf). In addition to setting crossover frequencies, each output may be assigned to any one or a combination of inputs, allows you to program four parametric, low or high shelf filters, delay of up to 682ms, output gain, reverse polarity and a compressor/limiter for speaker protection. All this in one rack space with XLR input and output connections. The Protea 4.24D combines precise audio processing and superior sound in a powerful, tamper-proof, easy to use processor for use in fixed installation applications requiring long, adjustable output delay.
